Biodiversity
In order to maintain and contribute to our biodiversity, for an ever-abundant region, Dulsco has taken up certain initiatives. These include regular beach and desert clean-ups, Ghaf plantations, recycling drives and environmental awareness campaigns with educational institutions, clients, employees and communities at large. We also plant mangrove trees which play a critical role in curbing global warming by eliminating approximately 10-15kg of carbon each year. This activity is aimed at supporting the UAE’s commitment to planting 100 million mangroves by 2030.
Carbon Footprint
Minimising our carbon footprint has continually been our goal, for which we have developed a thorough carbon footprint measurement initiative that evaluates emissions throughout our operations, to give us an accurate and comprehensive evaluation. We analyse data associated with our energy consumption, fleet management, facilities, and other relevant activities, to better understand our carbon emissions and identify areas for improvement. We aim to track our progress against these figures and provide regular reports on our performance. We aspire to incorporate a decarbonisation roadmap until 2050, to sketch out a path to Net-Zero.
Recycling Bus
During Expo 2020, we launched a mobile waste collection and education unit called the ‘Recycling Bus’, which is an old, out-of-commission bus that was recycled for this purpose. The recycling bus was a strong educational tool, mobilised at 72 events in 2022 at various locations, mainly schools. It also offers free collection of recyclable materials in communities that don’t have access to recycling services. For more information please contact : 800WASTE(92783) or waste@dulsco.com.
UAE's Sustainability Vision
At Dulsco Group, we remain committed to the UAE’s vision of sustainability. We’ve signed the Climate-Responsible Companies Pledge in line with the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative. With the UAE’s year of sustainability well underway, we measured our carbon footprint for 2022 with the assessment being done by KPMG. We signed the Letter of Intent with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) for the UAE National Carbon Sequestration Project to support the efforts to expand the area of mangrove forests in the UAE. As a member of the Aluminium Recycling Coalition, we are also committed towards promoting the recycling of aluminium. Additionally, in accordance with the UAE Circular Economy Policy 2021-2031, we invested in cutting-edge waste treatment and recycling facilities to help reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills.
